PETROBRAS GRANTS BRAZILIAN CINEMA RECORD-BREAKING AWARD AT THE 30TH MOSTRA

Untitled Document In another step towards helping Brazilian audiovisual productions, Petrobras aids the release of two acclaimed films .

The Mostra Internacional de Cinema em São Paulo is celebrating its 30th edition with an important award for the Brazilian film industry: the Petrobras Award for Cultural Diffusion, worth R$ 600.000. An award of R$ 400.000 will be awarded to a fiction feature film and another R$ 200.000 to a full-length documentary. The money should be used in the distribution and release campaign of the awarded films. This award, the best ever given out at a film festival in the country, was created by Petrobras to celebrate the Mostra`s 30th anniversary in an initiative from Petrobras’ Cultural Program, which since 2003 has conducted the company`s cultural sponsorship.

All the Brazilian feature films, not yet released commercially, to be screened at the Mostra will be running for the prize. The winners will be selected by popular vote. The ballots will be numbered and each voter will only be able to vote once. The guests in the theatres will not be included in the voting process. During four screenings of each film, votes will be cast. The day and time for the competition were selected by draw.
