Fernando Meirelles and Paulo Morelli discuss their films at Clube da Mostra
Film makers and directors from 02, one of the main cinema and advertising producers in Brazil, Fernando Meirelles and Paulo Morelli, hosted one of the best attended encounters with the public at Clube da Mostra (Conjunto Nacional - Corredor Cine Bombril, Av. Paulista, 2073).
All of the venue was taken up by young people who plied the speakers with questions addressed both to Meirelles, director of City of God and The Constant Gardener, and Member of the Jury for the 29th Mostra, and to Morelli, director of Speaker Phone and O Preço da Paz.
Most of the questions revolved around details involved in producing the films, particularly concerning Fernando Meirelles' first international production: The Constant Gardener - an adaptation of the book by the same name by John Le Carré, with seven nominations for the British Independent Film Award.
International renown has not deterred Meirelles from plans for his next feature as director, with several segments set in different places in the world and inspired in Intolerance (1916), by David W. Griffith.
One of the films produced by the 02 that is part of the 29th Mostra programming is a feature, Ginga, by directors Hank Levine, Tocha Alves, and Marcelo Machado.
"Meirelles' international success is good for all of us", said Morelli. "Through his success, he is able to assist in new projects by new film makers."
