The Film Festival opening night fills up Memorial da América Latina
The 29th BR Film Festival – São Paulo International Film Festival started with the exhibition of the films My Father Is a Hundred Years Old, directed by Guy Maddin, written by Isabella Rossellini, and Good Night, and Good Luck, by George Clooney, at the Memorial da América Latina.
The event was honored by the presence of the mayor José Serra, and many other authorities, sponsors and partners such as Rubens Fernandes Jr., director of the FAAP Communication College, Marcelo Adriano de Paulos, director of Unibanco’s corporative communication , Luís Deoclécio Massaro Galina, director of SESC-SP, José Edson Bacellar JR., chairman of Bombril – who pointed out Cine Bombril’s opening, former Cinearte, which has been completely renovated and reopens exhibiting films from the festival – Sérgio Bandeira de Mello, communication executive manager of Petrobras Distributor, Fernando Leça, chairman of Fundação Memorial da América Latina, Hubert Alqueres, chairman of Imprensa Oficial, João Batista de Andrade, State’s Secretary of Culture, José Roberto Sadek, adjunct secretary of the City’s Department of Culture. Marina Person and Serginho Groisman were the hosts. The party’s music was lead by HB Tronix and DJ Marcus Presto.
Actors, filmmakers, Brazilian producers were among hundreds of guests: Lázaro Ramos (who worked in four films exhibited in the 29th Film Festival: Lower City, Cafundó, The Machine and the short film Desire); Marcelo Gomes and João Miguel, director and actor of the feature film Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures; Sérgio Machado, director of Cidade Baixa; Bruna Lombardi and Carlos Alberto Riccelli, actress and director of the feature film Stress, Orgasms and Salvation – SOS; and Ugo Giorgetti, director of the documentary Pizza.
International film directors who already were in São Paulo joined the party: : Christopher Jaymes, director of In Memory of My Father; Andreas Johnsen, director of the documentary Mr. Catra The Faithful (which was shot in Brazil); Silvio Caiozzi, director of Cachimba; Marie Nyreröd, director of Ingmar Berman Complete: Bergman Och Filmen/ Bergman Och Teatern/ Bergman Och Farö; Sergej Stanojkovski, director of Kontakt; Jason Rem, director of Put the Needle on the Record; Emilio Maillé, director of Rosário Tijeras; and François Bovy, director of Melodias.
The 29th São Paulo International Film Festival goes on until November 3rd. Check the programming.
