The Berlin Film Festival includes philosophy in the Talent Campus program
The Talent Campus program, by initiative of the Berlin Film Festival, offers young achievers an opportunity to learn with acknowledged professionals about the different stages for a film-making project. In 2006, the Talent Campus program will be in its fourth edition. In addition to the traditional courses focusing on the variables involved in film producing, the event will now include philosophy as part of the syllabus. For the organizers, the philosophical approach is one of the stages crucial to the development of a film.Talent Campus is a six-day program concomitant with the Berlin Film Festival, next to be held February 9 through 19. Those eligible include young professionals and students from every part of the world, in the fields of directing, script, production, art directing, photography, action, montage, and sound editing. To apply for one of the 500 available grants with a right to lodgings in Berlin and financing of part of the air transport, the candidate must register with a short film one minute in length specially made for the occasion, or made previously. Or, make a short film of at most 5 minutes on the subject "Hunger, Food or Flavor". Script writers, art-finalists, and sound editors must include work pertaining to their respective fields of action. Instructions can be accessed at http://www.berlinale-talentcampus.de.
Those interested in participating in the screening process must register by November 1. Those selected will have the unique opportunity of co-working and learning with renowned professionals, in a number of fields. In former years, film makers such as Ridley Scott, Wim Wenders, Dennis Hopper, Walter Salles, Anthony Minguella, Catherine Breillat, among other experts, took part in the event and shared their knowledge with the newcomers.
