The 'Coleção Aplauso' series - A tribute to brazilian talent in theater and cinema in a series of books under the direction of critic Rubens Ewald Filho
The most widely-acclaimed critic in Brazilian cinema, author of annuals on video and DVD releases, is the director of the 'Coleção Aplauso' series in partnership with the Oficial Imprensa publishers in São Paulo. The collection is a success in bookstores in Brazil and a tribute to the memory and the career of a varied segment of artists, directors, and technicians in Brazilian theater and cinema.Two new volumes from the collection - "Nunca Fui Anjo" and "Luz Natural" - dedicated to actress Aracy Balabanian and to the multimedia actress, director, and producer Carla Camurati, will be released in Rio de Janeiro, in the newly-opened Unibanco Arteplex movie theater center (Praia de Botafogo, 316), on June 27. This collection will definitely, at last, position Brazil at the forefront of the publishing segment in this market, and closer to the generous publishing initiative in the United States and Europe devoted to artistic talent there. As we can see by the extensive listing below, 'Coleção Aplauso' is, today, an important feature in bookstores and has captured the attention of readers of all generations. Filling a gap in publishing, the collection has, also, been well-named and deserves our applause.
With these two new releases, Coleção Aplauso now includes 49 titles. "Nunca Fui Anjo", by journalist Tania Carvalho, outlines the profile of São Paulo actress of Armenian descent, Aracy Balabanian, well-known for her characters in the Rede Globo novellas. "Luz Natural", by critic and researcher Carlos Alberto Mattos, analyzes the path traveled by Rio actress and director Carla Camurati who, in 1990, directed a film - a milestone in Brazilian cinema - the successful "Carlota Joaquina - Princesa do Brazil".
